GEORGETOWN, 7 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of National Unity, through the National Library of Malaysia in collaboration with the Penang Public Library Corporation, organised the ASEAN Book Fair and Unity Calligraphy Festival 2026, celebrating reading, cultural heritage and community unity.
The closing ceremony was officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli Ngah Talib.
The event served as a high-impact initiative aimed at promoting reading culture and the local publishing industry while recognising the art of calligraphy as a symbol of civilisation, cultural identity and social cohesion.
In his welcoming address, National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the book fair provides an important platform to expand public access to quality reading materials, foster a culture of knowledge, encourage lifelong learning and support the growth of Malaysia’s book industry.

The programme also reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening unity through educational and cultural initiatives that bring communities together.
