Ahmad Maslan updates Dewan Rakyat on key road projects

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan attended the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday to respond to key questions during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT), providing updates on major road infrastructure projects.

During the session, Ahmad answered a question from Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman regarding the latest progress of the Jalan Simpan Ketari upgrading project. He outlined the current status of the project and the measures being taken to ensure its timely completion to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

He also responded to a question from Dungun MP Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli on the key considerations for the proposed East Coast Expressway Phase 3 (LPT3). Ahmad said the government’s assessment is based on several factors, including socioeconomic impact, projected traffic volume, the availability of financial allocations and the long-term benefits to the East Coast logistics network.

The Ministry of Works reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the country’s infrastructure development and maintenance programmes are implemented transparently, effectively and holistically to enhance public safety and convenience.
