JAKOA guides Orang Asli youths towards higher education and TVET

KLUANG, 9 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) organised an education outreach programme to guide Orang Asli students towards higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities through MARA educational institutions.

The programme, titled Langkah ke IPT & TVET: Hala Tuju Pelajar Lepasan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) ke Institusi Pendidikan MARA (IPMa) 2026, was officiated by JAKOA Deputy Director-General (Development), Ir. Ts. Mahat Mat Dong, who is carrying out the duties of the Director-General, at the JAKOA Training Centre in Kluang, Johor.

More than 70 Orang Asli youths who recently completed their SPM examinations participated in the programme, which provided exposure to educational pathways available through MARA institutions.

Participants also underwent the E-Potensi assessment, attended talks and sharing sessions, received guidance on admission applications based on their interests, and took part in interactive activities.

Among the institutions participating were TVET MARA, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), GIATMARA, Kolej Profesional MARA, Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) and MARA counsellors.

Also present were Human Capital Development and Welfare Division Director Aslina Wati Abdullah, Assistant Director I Rahman Samsu, and JAKOA officers from the headquarters and state offices.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA), the initiative aims to expand access to higher education and skills training while supporting the educational aspirations and future career development of Orang Asli youths.-The Capital Post.
