MELAKA, July 25, 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) officially launched the World Tiger Day 2026 celebration at A’Famosa Safari Wonderland, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to protecting the critically endangered Malayan tiger and its natural habitat.
The event was officiated by Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Arthur Joseph Kurup, who highlighted Malaysia’s status as one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries with rich biodiversity.
In his address, Arthur said that as of 2026, seven series of the Integrated Khazanah Operations (OBK) had successfully detected and dismantled 29 wildlife snares, while curbing illegal hunting and encroachment activities, reflecting the nation’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its biodiversity.

He said the celebration serves as an important platform to raise public awareness on the importance of conserving the Malayan tiger and preserving its natural habitat, stressing that conservation efforts require the collective support of all stakeholders to ensure the survival of the nation’s iconic species.
