KUALA LUMPUR, 27 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (Air Selangor) have formalised a strategic partnership through the exchange of the Electricity Supply Agreement (ESA) and Cooling Energy Supply Agreement (CESA) documents to strengthen utility efficiency across Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
The document exchange ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), YAB Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, together with Selangor Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Under the ESA, the Sungai Rasau Water Treatment Plant (LRA Sungai Rasau) becomes the first strategic partner to receive a direct electricity supply, enhancing the reliability of power supply and ensuring stable, efficient and resilient water treatment and distribution operations.
Meanwhile, the 20-year CESA will modernise the cooling systems at Air Selangor’s headquarters and its Kuala Lumpur regional office. The initiative is expected to reduce cooling costs by 11 per cent, generating savings of approximately RM2.78 million over the concession period, while lowering carbon emissions and improving operational efficiency.

The collaboration between the two national utility companies reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening essential public services and enhancing the well-being of communities in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air, the agreements represent a strategic step towards improving energy efficiency, utility resilience and the sustainability of public infrastructure. – The Capital Post
