MOT Strengthens SEA Games 2027 Transport Planning

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29, 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) is strengthening preparations for the logistics and transportation aspects of the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Para Games 2027through a strategic planning workshop involving key agencies and transport operators.

The Transport Committee Direction and Requirements Workshop, held from July 27 to 28, 2026 at Hyatt Place Bukit Jalil, marked an important milestone as the MOT Transport Main Committee became the first working committee under the MASOC 2027 Secretariat to conduct a comprehensive planning workshop for the upcoming regional sporting events.

The workshop brought together 41 participants from 26 agencies, including ministries, state governments, and public and private transport operators, to coordinate strategies and operational requirements for ensuring an efficient, safe and inclusive transport system throughout the Games.

Key outcomes from the workshop included the development of an initial framework for the Transport Master Plan 2027, proposals for the establishment of a Transport Operations Monitoring Centre (TOMC), coordination of express Immigration and Customs lanes at major entry points, planning for OKU-friendly transportation facilities and readiness assessments through site visits to competition venues.

MOT said the initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment, together with strategic partners, to ensure Malaysia is fully prepared to host the regional sporting event while enhancing the country’s reputation through a modern, efficient and world-class transportation system.
