KUALA LUMPUR, 15 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – Delegates participating in the ASEAN-China Heritage Dimensions of National Arts (ACH-DNA) 2.0 cultural programme explored Malaysia’s rich craft and textile heritage during Day Five of the cultural journey on 13 August.
The programme featured visits to the National Craft Institute (IKN) and National Textile Museum, providing delegates with an opportunity to gain deeper insights into Malaysia’s traditional craftsmanship, textile heritage and creative practices.
At IKN, delegates were introduced to the knowledge, skills and creative processes behind Malaysia’s traditional crafts, as well as efforts to incorporate innovation into the preservation and development of the country’s heritage.
The institute features four specialised craft disciplines — ceramics, batik, weaving and rattan.

The cultural journey continued at the National Textile Museum, where delegates explored the stories, techniques and cultural identities embedded in Malaysia’s textile heritage, including intricate weaving, embroidery and traditional artistry.
The visit also provided an avenue for heritage, creativity and knowledge exchange, highlighting how Malaysia’s traditional crafts and textiles continue to inspire and connect generations.
