KUALA LUMPUR, 22 August 2026 (The Capital Post) – CIMB Bank Berhad (CIMB) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will jointly host Festival Ambang Merdeka 2026: Malaysia MADANI – Kesejahteraan Dinikmati at Dataran Merdeka from 29 to 31 August 2026.
The three-day festival is expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors, bringing Malaysians together through music, culture and community activities while providing opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
The main highlight will be Konsert Kita Bagi Jadi @ Ambang Merdeka 2026, which will take place on 30 August at 10.30pm and run for 90 minutes ahead of the Merdeka countdown at midnight.
Directed and choreographed by renowned creative director Pat Ibrahim under the theme “Menyusuri Sejarah, Memperkasa Semangat”, the musical will feature eight Malaysian artistes – Aina Abdul, Aman RA, Nadia Aqilah, Asmidar, Haziq Rosebi, Mimifly, Izen Kong and Pasya.
They will be accompanied by 70 dancers and a 60-member Orkestra Kuala Lumpur, with three original songs making their debut during the performance.
The concert will combine music, dance, immersive storytelling and orchestral performances to celebrate Malaysia’s history, cultural heritage and diversity.
The evening will conclude with the Merdeka countdown and fireworks display over Dataran Merdeka.

Beyond entertainment, the festival will also provide a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local entrepreneurs to offer food, beverages and Malaysian products throughout the three-day event.
CIMB said the initiative would provide participating businesses with greater visibility, access to new customers and opportunities to expand their operations.
The bank will also support participating businesses in embracing digitalisation through its ecosystem and digital payment solutions to help MSMEs manage transactions and serve customers more efficiently.
CIMB Group Chief Brand and Marketing Officer Toni Darusman said the festival reflected the bank’s “Moving You Forward” brand promise by creating meaningful experiences that bring communities together.

The festival is open to the public with free admission from 29 to 31 August at Dataran Merdeka. – The Capital Post
