BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, 2 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) is strengthening Malaysia’s involvement in regional cooperation through its participation in the 11th BIMP-EAGA Socio-Cultural and Education Cluster Meeting.
Hosted by Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the meeting brought together representatives from the working groups under the cluster.
The meeting was chaired by Madam Caroline Cleophas Joseph, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Sarawak, who also serves as Chair of the BIMP-EAGA Socio-Cultural and Education Cluster.
The cluster comprises three main working groups — the Human Resources Development Working Group (HRD), Sociocultural and Education Working Group, and Youth and Sports Development Working Group.
Discussions included reviewing the progress of programmes and projects under the cluster, as well as preparations for the BIMP-EAGA Leaders’ Meeting scheduled for November 2026.

Under the human resources development agenda, participants also focused on training, skills and workforce development as key elements in strengthening human capital across the BIMP-EAGA region.
KESUMA plays an active role through the Human Resources Development Working Group, supporting talent development, training and skills enhancement to ensure workers in the region remain competitive, adaptable and prepared for changes in the world of work.
