SELANGOR, 12 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Preserving Malaysia’s diverse heritage is vital to strengthening national identity, shared values and a sense of belonging among Malaysians, the Ministry of National Unity said.
Ministry of National Unity Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Haslina binti Abdul Hamid officiated the closing ceremony of NUSAKARA: Heritage and Contemporary Studies Exhibition in conjunction with AAD Week 2026 on Friday.
Haslina highlighted that while Malaysians may differ in names, languages, cultures and ways of life, a shared love for the country and pride in being Malaysian remain important unifying values.
She said heritage goes beyond preserving stories of the past, as traditions, arts, languages, creative works and historical legacies collectively shape the identity of society today.
Preserving heritage is therefore important to ensure the stories and experiences that define Malaysian society are not lost over time.

The initiative is also aligned with the Ministry of National Unity’s direction of “Bersama Membina Negara Bangsa”, which emphasises understanding and appreciating Malaysia’s roots as part of building a stronger shared national identity.
NUSAKARA provided students with an opportunity not only to document heritage but also to study, understand and interpret it responsibly before presenting its significance to the present generation.
