PUTRAJAYA, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is stepping up preparations for programmes linked to Formula 1 as part of efforts to leverage the prestigious motorsport event to strengthen Malaysia’s tourism sector and global destination appeal.
MOTAC Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot chaired a coordination meeting on Friday (11 September), held at the ministry and online, to review the latest developments and preparations for programmes planned in conjunction with Formula 1.
The meeting focused on progress updates, programme readiness and the coordination of implementation plans to ensure activities are carried out smoothly and meet their intended objectives.
Discussions also emphasised strengthening cooperation and preparedness among all parties involved ahead of the event.

MOTAC said careful planning and coordination would be important in positioning Formula 1 as a platform to further promote Malaysia’s tourism offerings and strengthen the country’s profile as a world-class destination.
