NEW DELHI, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and India are strengthening strategic economic ties through expanded trade, investment and cooperation in high-value sectors, with the aim of creating more quality jobs for Malaysians.
Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim held an official meeting with Indian Prime Minister H.E. Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday (12 September).
Anwar was accompanied by Human Resources Minister YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry YB Datuk Seri Johari bin Abdul Ghani.
The meeting focused on strengthening Malaysia-India strategic relations through greater trade and investment while exploring new growth sectors with the potential to generate high-quality employment.
India’s strengths in technology, the digital economy, semiconductors, professional services and manufacturing were highlighted as areas that could create opportunities for new investment, technology transfer and the development of Malaysia’s local talent and workforce skills.

During the meeting, Anwar and Modi also agreed to establish a platform connecting the Malaysian and Indian business communities to expand networks, explore investment opportunities and develop new economic partnerships between the two countries.
Ramanan has been tasked with coordinating the initiative to ensure the proposed platform translates into tangible cooperation, stronger business and investment ties and more high-value employment opportunities for Malaysians.
