PENANG, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) is strengthening cooperation with local authorities to support more sustainable, efficient and competitive urban development across Malaysia.
PETRA, together with the Energy Commission (ST) and Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia, participated in the 2026 Local Authorities Convention and National-Level World Environmental Health Day celebration in Penang on Saturday (12 September).
The event was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).
PETRA’s participation included an exhibition booth aimed at promoting sustainable urban practices and providing a platform for engagement with local authority leaders and related agencies from across the country.

The initiative also sought to strengthen strategic cooperation in advancing local government reforms that are more efficient, competitive and sustainable.
Closer coordination between federal agencies and local authorities is expected to support the implementation of sustainability initiatives at the municipal level.
