Malaysia Uses Cultural Diplomacy to Strengthen Global Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia is strengthening international friendship and cultural diplomacy through the arts, bringing together performers from four countries as part of Festival Budaya Malaysia 2026 (FBM2026).

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man officiated the “Harmony Beyond Borders – A Celebration of Cultural Friendship” concert in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (11 September).

The concert, coordinated by Orkestra Tradisional Malaysia (OTM), featured performers from Malaysia, China, India and Uzbekistan through music, dance and cultural performances.

The programme promoted artistic collaboration, joint performances and professional networking while advancing the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture’s (MOTAC) Cultural Diplomacy Programme.

It also supported Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 by promoting cultural tourism and encouraging international collaboration within the creative industries.

MOTAC said the programme demonstrated how arts and culture can connect communities, strengthen bilateral relations and showcase Malaysia’s cultural heritage on the international stage.

MOTAC Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot and ministry officials were also present.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, the concert reflected Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening international friendship and mutual understanding through arts and culture. – The Capital Post
