NEW DELHI, 13 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Malaysia and Iran are exploring deeper cooperation in trade, investment and energy as both countries seek to strengthen their strategic relationship and create new economic opportunities.
Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim held bilateral talks with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi on Saturday (12 September).
Human Resources Minister YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan accompanied Anwar at the meeting, which provided a platform for both sides to exchange views and explore areas of mutual economic interest.
The discussions highlighted opportunities to expand trade and investment ties while opening new avenues for businesses and industries in both countries.

Energy, particularly the oil and gas sector, was also identified as an area of strategic importance given the strengths and expertise of Malaysia and Iran.
Stronger economic and industrial cooperation could also support the creation of more high-value jobs, strengthen talent development and enhance the competitiveness of Malaysia’s workforce in meeting future industry needs.
