PUTRAJAYA, 1 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) are strengthening strategic cooperation ahead of the 35th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM35), scheduled to be held at Istana Budaya on 21 November 2026.
MOTAC Secretary-General Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot received a courtesy visit from a FINAS delegation led by its Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Azmir Saifuddin bin Mutalib on 30 September.
The meeting provided a platform for both sides to exchange views and discuss cooperation for FFM35, which will be held at Istana Budaya for the first time.
Discussions also covered opportunities to promote Malaysia as a filming destination and explore ways the creative industry can contribute to economic growth, tourism and the international promotion of Malaysian culture.

Also present was Istana Budaya Deputy Director-General of Operations Johan Cruyff @ Mohd Johari bin Md Nordin, along with senior officials from MOTAC, FINAS and Istana Budaya.
MOTAC said it would continue strengthening cooperation with agencies and stakeholders to support the growth and competitiveness of Malaysia’s arts, culture and creative sectors, including efforts to expand their international reach.
