KUCHING, 1 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar highlighted the importance of understanding history in strengthening unity during a Statesman Lecture organised by the Ministry of National Unity (KPN) through the National Archives of Malaysia (ANM). His position as Sarawak’s Yang di-Pertua Negeri remains current in 2026.

Held at Wisma Sejarah, the programme brought together administrators, civil servants, academics, researchers and members of the public for a lecture focusing on the history of Sarawak.

The session provided Wan Junaidi with a platform to share historical perspectives, ideas and experiences aimed at encouraging greater appreciation of Sarawak’s history among its multiracial community.

The programme also reflected on his personal and professional journey, including his service with the Royal Malaysia Police beginning in 1964 and the Police Field Force from 1968 to 1973, when he was involved in operations during the communist insurgency period in Sarawak.
