Dewan Rakyat Committee Reviews Kundasang Cooperative Role

KUNDASANG, 2 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – A Dewan Rakyat select committee has visited Koperasi Komuniti Pantabalan Gerai Sayur Kundasang Berhad in Sabah to examine the role of community cooperatives in supporting local socioeconomic development.

The delegation was led by Rasah MP Cha Kee Chin, who chairs the Special Select Committee on Domestic Trade, Entrepreneurship, Cost of Living and Agriculture.

The visit provided an opportunity to review how the cooperative supports agricultural supply chains and marketing while helping to increase income opportunities for its members.

The programme included briefings by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) and the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM) on the development of Sabah’s cooperative sector, followed by a briefing from the cooperative and a walkabout of its operations.

The delegation also included Keningau MP Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan, Pasir Gudang MP Hassan bin Abdul Karim, Sungai Besar MP Datuk Muslimin bin Yahaya, Beruas MP Dato’ Ngeh Koo Ham and Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Roslan bin Hashim.

Ranau MP Datuk Jonathan bin Yasin also joined the visit.

KUSKOP was represented by Cooperative Development, Hawkers and Small Traders Division Secretary Haji Azizul bin Alias, while SKM Sabah was represented by its state director Haji Awg Ruslli bin Mohammad.
