JKR Hands Over 12 Completed School Projects in Melaka

AYER KEROH, 3 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia has handed over 12 completed education infrastructure projects in Melaka to the Ministry of Education (KPM), covering school buildings, additional classrooms and other learning facilities.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina binti Sidek officiated the handover ceremony on 2 October, witnessed by Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Haji Ahmad bin Haji Maslan and senior officials from KPM and JKR Malaysia.

The 12 projects involved the reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, additional classrooms, education facilities, covered multipurpose halls, modular buildings and projects using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) under the 13th Malaysia Plan.

Among the projects was the RM7.03 million reconstruction of a dilapidated building at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tun Syed Ahmad Shahabudin, which was completed nine days ahead of schedule.

Covered multipurpose halls and courts at several schools were also among the facilities completed ahead of schedule.

Additional classroom projects were delivered at SMK Tun Tuah, SK Lereh, SK Paya Rumput, SMK Sri Mahkota Jasin and SMK Durian Tunggal.

A Pure Science Laboratory at Sekolah Menengah Agama Tun Perak in Jasin was also included in the handover.

The Works Ministry (KKR) said the completion of the projects reflects JKR’s commitment to delivering education infrastructure according to required standards for quality, cost and completion time, while providing more conducive learning environments.

Following the handover, JKR will continue monitoring post-completion matters to ensure any defects are addressed within the stipulated requirements and timeframe.
