EXPERT 2026 Expands Market Access for Rural Entrepreneurs

TASEK GELUGOR, 4 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Expo PERDA (EXPERT) 2026 is strengthening market access, business networking and regional trade opportunities for rural entrepreneurs, with more than 200 exhibitors taking part in the programme.

Organised by the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), the expo is being held at Midtown PERDA, Kubang Menerong, under the theme “Sinergi Halal: Memperkasa Usahawan, Memacu Ekonomi”. The event runs from 2 to 4 October.

The programme provides business-matching opportunities, halal entrepreneur networking and access to the Global Halal Marketplace, enabling participating businesses to explore wider markets.

Cooperation involving Indonesia and Thailand also provides opportunities for import, export and regional trade, while helping local entrepreneurs expand their business networks.

EXPERT 2026 was officiated by Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli bin Ngah Talib, whose current position is also listed by the Penang State Legislative Assembly.

Also present were Toh Puan Raja Dato’ Seri Utama Noora Ashikin binti Raja Abdullah, KKDW Secretary-General Dato’ Sri Suriani binti Dato’ Ahmad and members of the ministry’s senior management.

KKDW said the initiative reflects its commitment through PERDA to strengthen entrepreneurship, expand market opportunities and support the growth of rural businesses.
