Defence Minister Reviews Local Defence Capabilities at HPWW

BUKIT BERUNTUNG, 8 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin conducted an official visit to the High Point Worldwide Sdn Bhd (HPWW) Engineering Complex on Wednesday (7 October) to assess the capabilities of local companies in supporting Malaysia’s defence requirements.

The visit focused on HPWW’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities, including integrated logistics support, system integration, assembly and fabrication.

These capabilities align with the National Defence Industry Policy (DIPN), which aims to strengthen Malaysia’s domestic defence industry ecosystem and enhance the ability of local companies to support the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

During the visit, Mohamed Khaled toured the engineering complex to observe the company’s technical capabilities before inspecting a static exhibition featuring 11 types of vehicles and assets in various configurations.

Among the assets displayed were TEDUNG, the High Mobility Reconnaissance Vehicle (HMRV) KALA and RENTAS, alongside several tactical and support assets already utilised by the Malaysian Army.

The Defence Minister also officiated the naming of HPWW’s locally manufactured three-tonne GS cargo truck as RENTAS.

The ceremony was attended by Defence Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, Chief of Army General Tan Sri Azhan Md Othman and a delegation from the Defence Ministry.

The visit highlighted the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the domestic defence industry through expanded strategic partnerships with local companies, technological development, increased manufacturing capacity and the development of highly skilled human capital.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, these efforts are aimed at building a more competitive and capable defence industry ecosystem that can continuously support Malaysia’s defence readiness in line with the National Defence Industry Policy – The Capital Post
