MOTAC Trains Tourism Guides in Destination Storytelling

PUTRAJAYA, 9 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) organised a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) programme to strengthen storytelling and presentation skills among tourism guides across Malaysia.

The programme, titled “A Journey into the Hidden Narratives of Destinations”, was held from 6 to 7 October 2026 at the MOTAC building in Putrajaya.

Organised by MOTAC’s Industry Development Division (BPI), the initiative brought together 25 participants from tourist guide associations nationwide.

The programme was officiated by BPI Secretary Dr. Norwan Ahmad, while Malaysian Tourist Guides Council (MTGC) President Jimmy Leong Wie Kong served as the master trainer.

The training focused on improving storytelling techniques, presentation skills, creativity and destination mapping to help tourism guides deliver more engaging and informative experiences for visitors.

It also aimed to develop qualified trainers who can share their knowledge and skills with MOTAC-licensed tourist guides, contributing to improvements in the quality of tourism services nationwide.

Through effective storytelling, tourism guides can better communicate the history, cultural significance and unique characteristics of destinations, creating more meaningful experiences for tourists.

The initiative forms part of MOTAC’s efforts to strengthen professional capabilities within the tourism industry through targeted training and knowledge sharing.
