Government Announces RM150 Million Postal Fund to Support Courier Industry

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The government has agreed to establish a RM150 million Postal Fund, scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027, to support the long-term sustainability of Malaysia’s postal and courier ecosystem.

Communications Minister Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil announced the initiative while officiating the World Post Day 2026 celebration at the Kuala Lumpur General Post Office on Saturday (10 October).

The celebration, themed “One Postal Network, A Thousand Opportunities”, highlighted the importance of strengthening Malaysia’s postal services and ensuring the continued development of the national delivery network.

The proposed RM150 million fund is intended to help maintain the viability and sustainability of the country’s postal and courier ecosystem amid evolving industry needs.

During the event, Fahmi also launched the World Post Day 2026 Special Stamp Collection to commemorate the occasion.

The celebration also featured the introduction of Malaysia’s first electric three-wheeled vehicle for last-mile deliveries, marking a step towards improving delivery operations while supporting environmental sustainability.

The electric delivery vehicle initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency in the postal sector while encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

The event highlighted efforts to modernise Malaysia’s postal and courier services through operational improvements and sustainable delivery practices.

Also present were Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Managing Director Abdul Karim Fakir Ali and Pos Malaysia Board Member Datuk Imri Mokhtar.
