KUALA LUMPUR, 13 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Works (KKR) has emphasised the importance of accelerating digital transformation through Building Information Modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technology to improve infrastructure project management and service delivery.
Works Ministry Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Azman Ibrahim highlighted these priorities during the ministry’s October 2026 Monthly Assembly, held alongside its Counselling Month celebration at Dewan Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid in Kuala Lumpur on Monday (12 October).
In his address, Azman stressed that BIM should be adopted as a comprehensive information management approach covering the entire lifecycle of infrastructure assets, from planning and project implementation to long-term asset management.
He also emphasised the need to integrate emerging technologies, including AI and digital twins, to strengthen the ministry’s digital capabilities.
The transformation is supported by the ministry’s 5P framework, which focuses on five key elements: policy, people, processes, platforms and performance.
Azman called on ministry personnel to embrace technological changes while upholding integrity, responsibility, accountability and teamwork to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality and resilient infrastructure projects.
