KUALA LUMPUR, 13 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has commemorated the contributions and sacrifices of its former Special Branch F Team in combating the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) through a historical storytelling programme held in Kuala Lumpur.
The event, themed “Wira Dalam Senyap, Benteng Keselamatan Negara”, took place at Dewan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Hashim, Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), on Monday (12 October).
Jointly organised by the National Archives of Malaysia and PDRM, the programme was officiated by Deputy National Unity Minister Yuneswaran Ramaraj and attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid.
Established on 1 March 1971, the F Team was a specialised Special Branch unit tasked with detecting, disrupting and dismantling underground CPM activities through intelligence operations and arrests.
Operating under the motto “Hanya Yang Berani” (Only the Brave), the unit conducted operations against communist threats until the signing of the Hat Yai Peace Agreement in 1989.
The team was disbanded in 1995, while its existence was officially disclosed to the public on 6 December 2016 following the declassification of related operational files.
In his address, Abdul Aziz expressed appreciation for the courage, dedication and loyalty demonstrated by F Team personnel in safeguarding national security.
