SABAK BERNAM, 26 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The government has increased its allocation for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to RM8 billion under Budget 2027 to strengthen skills development and expand career opportunities for Malaysians.
Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi highlighted the allocation while officiating the eighth TVET@KKDW Expo 2026 at the Sungai Besar Stadium grounds in Sabak Bernam, Selangor.
The initiative aims to improve access to skills training, particularly for rural communities, while preparing young Malaysians for higher-paying jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The ministry noted that 65.2 per cent of the 99,030 potential jobs linked to investments approved in the first half of 2026 involved skills-related sectors, highlighting growing demand for skilled workers.
Meanwhile, a collaboration between Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Samsung SDI Energy Malaysia through the Fast Track & Direct Industry Intake Programme will provide employment opportunities for 200 MARA TVET graduates in the electric vehicle battery industry.
The graduates are expected to receive starting salaries of at least RM3,500 per month.
