Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that this is in conjunction with the official opening of Phase 1 of the MRT Putrajaya Line today.

This means that commuters taking the MRT, LRT, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), monorail or RapidKL bus services will not have to pay any fees.

“I hope that Malaysians will take this opportunity to try these public transportation services, parking their vehicles at Park n Ride facilities,” he said.

Ismail said the MRT Putrajaya Line, which is being developed in two phases, will serve about two million residents from Kwasa Damansara all the way to Putrajaya.

Phase 2 of the MRT line will pass through “strategic areas” in the Kuala Lumpur city centre, such as Titiwangsa, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Ampang Park and the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), he said.

With 36 stations, including nine underground, Ismail said MRT Corp is planning to add four more stations in the future to improve access to public transportation.

“The full opening of the MRT Putrajaya Line is expected to see more than 104,000 users a day. It is hoped that this would reduce the traffic congestion affecting KL,” he said.-FMT
