KUCHING, 18 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – Bank Rakyat Sarawak has presented RM2.088 million in zakat to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak during a courtesy visit by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister YB Encik Steven Sim Chee Keong to Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar.
The meeting at Astana Negeri Sarawak also focused on strengthening cooperation between the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) and the Sarawak government, particularly in advancing entrepreneurship development and the cooperative movement.
During the meeting, Wan Junaidi shared his experience leading the ministry from 2020 to 2021, including early efforts to establish Universiti Keusahawanan Koperasi Malaysia (UKKM).
He also discussed efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s cooperative movement through the Malaysia Cooperative Transformation Plan (TransKoM) 2021–2025.

The visit included the symbolic presentation of RM2,088,408 in zakat from Bank Rakyat Sarawak to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.
Also present were TEKUN Nasional Chief Executive Officer YBrs. Encik Nor Haimee Zakaria; Bank Rakyat Chief Financial Officer YBrs. Encik Abdul Azis Rosli; Bank Rakyat’s Sarawak regional head; and Majlis Islam Sarawak President YBhg. Datuk Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, the courtesy visit also served to strengthen cooperation between KUSKOP and the Sarawak government in entrepreneurship and cooperative development. – The Capital Post
