PUTRAJAYA, 23 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Digital has prepared the first draft of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Sovereignty Framework to strengthen Malaysia’s digital sovereignty and national data security.
The framework was developed through the ministry’s Digital Enablement Division (BUD) as part of efforts to establish a more comprehensive approach to AI and cloud governance.
A closed-door roundtable discussion and validation session was held at Menara PjH, Ministry of Digital, on 15 October 2026, involving representatives from relevant government agencies.
The session focused on reviewing the initial draft and gathering feedback to refine the proposed framework before it is submitted for further consideration.
Guided by Pillars 2 and 3 of the National Cloud Computing Policy (NCCP), the framework takes into account industry capabilities, international standards and cross-border legal risks.
It also considers alignment with existing national policies and legislation to ensure that the proposed measures support Malaysia’s digital governance requirements.
