PERLIS, 16 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Economy Minister Datuk Haji Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir reviewed the progress of high-impact development projects and poverty eradication initiatives during his official working visit to Perlis on 10 July 2026.

Among the projects inspected was the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA), spanning 1,215 hectares, which is being developed as a major Green and Halal Investment Hub. The large-scale project is expected to transform Perlis into a key national hub for green and halal industries, following a special briefing by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).

The minister also reviewed the implementation of the People’s Income Initiative (IPR) INSAN programme involving vending machines at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Ulu Pauh Campus, which is operated by local entrepreneurs.

The IPR INSAN programme has shown positive results in improving the livelihoods of vulnerable groups, with entrepreneurs around UniMAP and Arau recording sales of nearly RM8,000 per month through vending machine businesses located at strategic locations.
