Jalan Raja to Close for Six Days Ahead of Citrawarna 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 July 2026 (The Capital Post) – Jalan Raja in front of Dataran Merdeka will be fully closed from 12 noon on 21 July until 5am on 27 July to facilitate preparations, event operations and dismantling works for Citrawarna 2026.

Additional road closures will also be enforced during the rehearsal and staging of the Colours of Parade, the festival’s signature cultural parade.

The rehearsal is scheduled for 24 July from 9pm to 2am, while the parade will take place on 25 July from 6pm to 11pm.

During both periods, the parade route will be fully closed from Bulatan Dato’ Onn to Jalan Parlimen, extending to Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Esfahan, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Tun Perak. The closure will also affect the stretch from the Jalan Kinabalu access road to Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance, follow traffic management instructions and use alternative routes throughout the closure periods. Visitors heading to Dataran Merdeka are encouraged to use public transport for easier access to the event.

Citrawarna 2026 will be held from 24 to 26 July at Dataran Merdeka as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, showcasing Malaysia’s diverse arts, culture, heritage and gastronomy.

To support travel to the festival, Grab will offer an RM3 e-hailing promotional voucher to the first 1,000 users each day from 24 to 26 July. A total of 3,000 vouchers worth RM9,000 will be available over the three-day event.
