King Leads Historic Royal Standards Ceremony in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, 5 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) top leadership joined the Royal Standards Parade held in conjunction with the Official Birthday Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at Dataran Pahlawan, Putrajaya.

The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Tunku Temenggong Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim arrived at the venue at 8.45am and was received by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Fadillah Yusof and Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, Negaraku, followed by a 21-gun salute conducted by the 41st Royal Artillery Regiment Battery in honour of the King’s arrival.

Guests were given the opportunity to witness the ceremonial parade of Royal Standards previously bestowed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong upon regiments and corps from the three branches of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), namely the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force.

Among the Royal Standards paraded were those of the Royal Malay Regiment, Royal Ranger Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force.

The event also featured a military parade comprising 25 officers and 510 personnel led by Lieutenant Colonel Azlan Shah Baharom, Commanding Officer of the Fifth Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment.

The Royal Standards Parade is held three times during the five-year reign of each Yang di-Pertuan Agong, specifically during the first, third and final years of the reign.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of a series of events held from 21 May in conjunction with the Official Birthday Celebration of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which was celebrated on 1 June.

Also present were Chief of Defence Forces Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman, Cabinet ministers, foreign dignitaries, senior PDRM officers and members of the media.
