SEGAMAT, 25 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an increase in annual grants for Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) nationwide, alongside new allocations for police quarters and Islamic educational institutions in Johor, according to a post on his official Facebook page.
Speaking during a programme with KRT members in Segamat after meeting civil servants in Melaka, Anwar praised the role played by KRT communities in fostering neighbourly ties, strengthening unity and helping to preserve peace and harmony within society.
He said Malaysia’s strength lies in the ability of its people, regardless of race, religion or background, to live together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. He stressed that efforts to sow hatred and division among the people must be countered through the spirit of unity that has long formed the foundation of the nation’s stability.
Recognising the important role of KRT as a pillar of community cohesion, Anwar announced that the MADANI Government has agreed to increase the annual KRT grant from RM6,000 to RM10,000 beginning 1 January 2027.

The Prime Minister also approved an immediate allocation of RM1 million for urgent repair works on police quarters in Johor while awaiting the implementation of more comprehensive projects under a future national budget.
In addition, the government has approved RM3.205 million to implement 16 infrastructure improvement projects involving Islamic educational institutions in Johor, including pondok schools, tahfiz centres and religious schools.
Anwar expressed hope that the initiatives would improve public well-being, strengthen community development and ensure that the benefits of national progress continue to be enjoyed by communities throughout Johor. – The Capital Post.
