He said this on Friday (Nov 22) after he was shown a video clip of the incident which has been making the rounds on social media.

In the video, the boys are seen going under the vending machine at a shopping mall to get at the toys.

Dr Wong said the youngsters were only being mischievous and probably had no intention to steal.

“The video was shown to me during Friday’s state assembly proceedings, and I hope to meet the vendor of the machine to settle the issue amicably,” he said.

The over two-minute footage obtained from the mall’s CCTV shows the boys laughing when one of them manages to pull out the toys.

The video was reportedly sent to local WhatsApp groups on Thursday (Nov 21) by the vendor, with a message alleging that the boys took four toys and describing the act as a theft.

The message also warned that a police report would be lodged if the boys failed to return the toys within a few days. -The Star
