MOSTI Advances Malaysia’s Tech Sovereignty Agenda

PUTRAJAYA, 16  June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), in collaboration with the Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), has organised the second series of the National Technology Sovereignty Framework (NTSF) Refinement Workshop for 2026.

Held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), the workshop aims to further refine the implementation of national strategies to strengthen Malaysia’s technological self-reliance and future readiness.

According to a Facebook post by Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), the workshop brought together representatives from the Federal Government, government agencies, industry players and academia to deliberate on four key technology sectors identified as national priorities.

The sectors include artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, semiconductors and sensors, as well as precision medicine.

MOSTI said strategic input gathered during the workshop would be used to refine and finalise the design and effectiveness of the National Technology Sovereignty Framework as a key national strategic blueprint.

The ministry added that the NTSF is expected to play a critical role in strengthening Malaysia’s technological capabilities, enhancing innovation capacity and ensuring the country remains competitive in an increasingly complex global technology landscape. – The Capital Post
