KUALA LUMPUR, 1 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Works Ministry (KKR) is strengthening road asset data governance under the MyJalan programme as part of efforts to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards smarter and more integrated infrastructure.

Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi chaired the MyJalan 2026 Road Data Roundtable at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on 30 September.

According to KKR, the meeting brought together nearly 200 officials from the Federal Government, state governments and local authorities to improve coordination over road asset data and address at least 30 issues involving fragmented responsibilities and overlapping jurisdictions.

The roundtable was held alongside the My ASEAN Roads & Traffic Tech Expo 2026 (MyARTTE 2026), which runs at MITEC from 30 September to 2 October. MITEC’s official event calendar confirms the three-day expo, while KKR continues to operate MyJalan as part of its road management initiatives.

Alexander also officiated MyARTTE 2026, which features technologies including Intelligent Transport Systems, smart traffic management, artificial intelligence, Digital Twin applications, data analytics and electric vehicle infrastructure.

A key event was the exchange of the Road Asset Data Declaration document between KKR and the Penang State Secretary, witnessed by Penang Infrastructure and Transport Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari and Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan.

KKR said it has established strategic road data management collaborations with seven states — Kedah, Terengganu, Sarawak, Sabah, Selangor, Kelantan and Penang  with similar cooperation planned for Perlis and Melaka.

The ministry said greater digitalisation and improved road data management would support more coordinated planning while helping develop a connected, sustainable and competitive infrastructure ecosystem.

MyARTTE 2026 is positioned as a regional platform focusing on road infrastructure, traffic management and smart mobility technologies across ASEAN.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Kementerian Kerja Raya Malaysia, the initiative supports KKR’s goal of building a national road data ecosystem based on the principle of “One Data, One Standard, One National Road Data Ecosystem” – The Capital Post
