PDRM, JAIS Honour Quran Disposal Process

PELABUHAN KLANG, 10 June 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) today carried out the 2026 release of compacted ashes from disposed copies of the Al-Quran and publications containing Quranic verses into the sea, in a ceremony held at the Marine Police Force (PPM) Region One Operations Base here.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay officiated the programme, which was organised in collaboration with JAIS as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the sanctity of the Al-Quran and ensure the respectful disposal of materials containing Quranic verses in accordance with Islamic principles.

According to a Facebook post by Polis Diraja Malaysia, Ayob Khan said the programme carried a significant message that Islam not only teaches its followers how to use something properly, but also how to manage and conclude its use with dignity, order and respect.

He stressed that the Al-Quran is the Kalamullah whose sanctity must always be preserved, adding that it is the responsibility of all Muslims to ensure damaged or worn copies are handled and disposed of with the utmost reverence.

Ayob Khan further noted that preserving the sanctity of the Al-Quran is not solely the responsibility of religious institutions but requires the collective awareness and participation of the wider Muslim community.

Prior to the voyage, Assistant Patrol Vessel Commanding Officer Insp. Zamri Sa’an briefed participants and volunteers on the ash-release procedures, as well as safety and emergency protocols.

The disposal process was conducted in waters near Pulau Angsa, approximately 20 nautical miles from the PPM Jetty in Port Klang, ensuring the operation was carried out in a safe, orderly manner and in compliance with established guidelines.

Also present were Marine Police Force Region One Commander ACP Jaffri Bidin, JAIS Research and Development Division Chief Assistant Director Muhamad Sujak Muhammad Dasuki, QAF International Sdn. Bhd. Director Lt. Kol. (B) Hj. Mohd Rahib Mohd Isa, and Klang Selatan Deputy District Police Chief Supt. Hj. Kamalariffin Aman Shah.

The programme underscores the continued commitment of PDRM and JAIS to safeguarding the sanctity of Islamic religious materials while promoting greater public awareness of proper Quran disposal practices. – The Capital Post.
