Six states, including PH-controlled Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan, must hold elections this year. Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will also have state elections.

Saifuddin said PH’s presidential council would meet on Saturday to hold a post-mortem on the 15th general election.

“We will (also) discuss preparations for the six state elections which will be held in less than six months,” Saifuddin told reporters after a home ministry event.

Saifuddin was also asked to comment on a possible cooperation between PH and BN in Penang.

He said the matter would most likely be discussed during the coalition’s council meeting.

Yesterday, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng said Penang PH and BN would likely cooperate in the state election following the formation of the unity government at federal level.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin, who is the home minister, said the ministry was looking to improve several prisons in Penang, Kedah and Kelantan.

He added that the prisons department needed more manpower and that there were around 1,500 vacancies now.-FMT
