RM164mil Allocated for Sabah Human Capital Development Under 13MP

KOTA KINABALU, 5 March 2026 (The Capital Post)— Sabah will allocate RM164.01 million for human capital development under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as part of efforts to strengthen skills development and empower youths in the state, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

Hajiji said the allocation will support programmes aimed at expanding scholarships and education assistance while enhancing opportunities for young Sabahans to build skills and achieve academic and professional excellence.

Speaking at the opening of a teachers’ training programme for the SMJ Robotics Competition, he said the state government is prioritising initiatives that improve education quality and promote innovation among students.

Among the focus areas under the initiative are the strengthening of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as greater emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. The programme will also include agricultural training and digital technology learning, with attention given to artificial intelligence literacy.

Hajiji said the government is committed to ensuring wider and more inclusive access to quality education through collaboration with schools, communities and strategic partners so that teachers receive adequate support while students benefit from meaningful learning experiences.

He added that structured initiatives such as robotics programmes in schools will help equip students with technological knowledge, build confidence and encourage innovation as Sabah continues to develop its human capital base.-The Capital Post
