KANGAR, 10 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) Perlis is undergoing a RM5.6 million upgrade aimed at providing more modern, safe and comfortable facilities for the state’s arts and cultural activities.
Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Secretary-General YBhg. Dato’ Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot visited the project site on Wednesday (9 September) to review its progress and ensure implementation remains on schedule.
The repair and upgrading project is being implemented under the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and is expected to be completed by mid-2028.

With a cost of RM5.6 million, the project is intended to improve JKKN Perlis facilities and provide a better environment for arts and cultural activities in the state.
MOTAC said the upgraded facilities would be more modern, safe and comfortable for the community while supporting efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s arts, culture and heritage.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, the initiative is part of efforts to give Perlis’ arts and cultural sector improved facilities for future activities. – The Capital Post
