PETALING JAYA: The price of RON97 will drop by two sen per litre starting tomorrow, the finance ministry announced this evening.

RON97 will retail at RM2.72 per litre, down from RM2.74. The new price will be effective from Aug 26 until Sept 1.

Meanwhile, the retail price of RON95 and diesel remains unchanged at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre respectively.

The finance ministry said the government would continue to monitor the trends of global crude oil prices and take appropriate measures to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people.

“To protect the consumers from global oil price increases, the government will maintain the ceiling price of RON95 at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, even though the market price (derived from the Automatic Pricing Mechanism) for RON95 and diesel has increased beyond the current ceiling price,” it said in a statement.-FMT
