ISKANDAR PUTERI, 7 September 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Selangor and Federal Territories contingent emerged as the overall champion of the National Orang Asli Sports Carnival (KSOA) 2026, which concluded at the EduCity Sports Complex here.
Deputy Prime Minister and Rural and Regional Development Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi officiated the closing ceremony of KSOA 2026.
During his speech, Ahmad Zahid announced a combined RM10,000 championship incentive with the Johor state government.
He also highlighted the encouraging participation of Orang Asli students in higher education institutions and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes through various initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA).
Ahmad Zahid also expressed appreciation for the Sultan of Johor’s consent to appoint YB Marina Ibrahim as a special representative overseeing Orang Asli affairs in Johor.
Selangor and the Federal Territories were crowned overall champions, while JAKOA Negeri Sembilan and Melaka were announced as the hosts of KSOA 2027.
The full results were as follows:
Batu Seremban: Selangor and Federal Territories emerged champions, followed by Perak and Kedah as runners-up, while Negeri Sembilan and Melaka finished third.

Bowling: Negeri Sembilan and Melaka won the title, with Selangor and Federal Territories as runners-up and Johor in third place.
Blowpipe: Kelantan and Terengganu emerged champions, followed by Selangor and Federal Territories in second place and Pahang in third.
Badminton: Negeri Sembilan and Melaka won the championship, while Selangor and Federal Territories finished second and Kelantan and Terengganu third.
Netball: Perak and Kedah took the title, followed by Johor in second place and Negeri Sembilan and Melaka in third.
Sepak Takraw: Pahang emerged champions, with Selangor and Federal Territories as runners-up and Kelantan and Terengganu in third place.
Football: Pahang won the championship, followed by Kelantan and Terengganu in second place and Selangor and Federal Territories in third.
Also present were Johor Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi; Johor Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman YB Tuan Haji Md. Israk bin Abdullah; JAKOA Director-General YBrs. Tuan Muhammad Akmal Ila bin Ahmad; and senior officers from KKDW, the Johor state government and JAKOA.
According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA), the carnival brought together Orang Asli contingents in a national-level sporting event and celebrated the achievements of participants across various sporting disciplines. – The Capital Post
