IPOH: The Education Ministry has introduced cybersex and human trafficking as part of the secondary school syllabus, says Teo Nie Ching (pic).

The Deputy Education Minister said the two topics were being taught to students as part of the ministry’s efforts to create more awareness and increase their level of preparedness.
“There is a syllabus on sex education in the Physical Education and Health subjects for pre-school pupils and secondary school students.
“Also in pre-school, pupils are taught what is appropriate and inappropriate touching,” she told reporters at SJK(C) Bercham here on Wednesday (Oct 2).
It was reported that an 11-year-old girl in Sabah stabbed a man’s eye with an ice cream stick after he tried to rape her.

The incident went viral on social media and has raised concerns, with parents urging for some form of self-defence to be taught in schools.
“We have introduced martial arts such as taekwondo as extra-curriculum activities for students.
“It is up to the parents and their children if they are interested to join such activities,” she said. -The Star
