BANGKOK 8 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Thailand is experiencing widespread hot to extremely hot weather conditions, with authorities warning that temperatures in several regions are expected to climb significantly, particularly in the capital where highs could approach 40°C.

The Thai Meteorological Department reported that upper parts of the country will face intense heat driven by a low-pressure system, resulting in generally hot weather with some areas experiencing very high temperatures and hazy daytime skies.

Weather patterns are also bringing unstable conditions, as weak southerly and south-westerly winds contribute to isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds, mainly affecting northern regions. These developments may provide brief relief from the heat but also raise concerns over sudden weather changes.

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, temperatures are forecast to range between 37°C and 40°C, intensifying health risks associated with prolonged exposure to extreme heat. Authorities have urged residents to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated and remain alert to changing weather conditions.

Southern parts of the country are also expected to experience hot daytime conditions alongside scattered thunderstorms, while sea conditions remain relatively calm, with waves increasing in areas affected by storms. Mariners have been advised to exercise caution when navigating through unstable weather zones.

The ongoing heatwave reflects seasonal climate patterns in the region but has been accompanied by heightened warnings due to its intensity, prompting officials to emphasise public safety and preparedness nationwide.-The Capital Post
