KUALA LUMPUR, 10 October 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Ministry of Works (KKR) celebrated National Sports Day 2026 on Friday (9 October) with a series of traditional games and recreational activities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork and cultural heritage among ministry personnel.

The ministry-level celebration was officially launched by Deputy Secretary-General (Management Sector) Dato’ Zainal Alhakab Seman in a lively atmosphere that encouraged active participation among employees.

National Sports Day, first declared in 2015, is an annual initiative observed on the second Saturday of October to encourage Malaysians to embrace sports and physical activities as part of their daily lives.

The initiative supports the national aspiration of transforming Malaysia into a “Sporting Nation” by fostering a stronger sports culture and promoting healthier lifestyles.

This year’s celebration at KKR featured traditional Malaysian games, commonly known as Sukan Rakyat, offering participants an opportunity to engage in recreational activities while appreciating the country’s cultural heritage.

The activities were designed to promote physical fitness and mental well-being while strengthening unity, cooperation and team spirit among ministry employees.
