KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Feb 2026 (The Capital Post) — The Malaysian Indian People Party (MIPP) has announced that the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has officially cleared the party and its leadership of all complaints related to the validity of its office bearers and internal processes.
According to a statement released today, a former party member had lodged a complaint with the ROS in October 2025, questioning the legitimacy of the party’s office bearers, annual general meetings, and related matters. Following a full investigation, the ROS issued a letter on 26 January 2026 confirming that the complaints were baseless and that the party’s documents and procedures were in proper order.
The ROS also revoked an earlier letter dated 5 December 2025, which the party claims had been misused by certain individuals to distort facts, mislead members, and create public confusion. Subsequently, on 27 January 2026, the ROS formally confirmed the list of members of the party’s Central Working Committee.
With these confirmations, S. P. Punithan remains the legitimate President of MIPP, and all members of the Central Committee are duly recognised as lawful office bearers, the statement said.
In a related development, a writ action filed at the Shah Alam High Court by Santharasekaran Subramaniam, which raised similar issues previously referred to the ROS, has been withdrawn. The withdrawal was recorded on 12 February 2026, with liberty to file afresh.
MIPP said the statement was issued to clarify the facts, curb the spread of misinformation and false claims in various forums, and to affirm the party’s legal position, according to Secretary General Sathes Kumar Nilameham, adding that the party reserves all its legal rights. – The Capital Post
