PETALING JAYA 1 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – The Malaysian Anti‑Corruption Commission (MACC) has extended an offer to pay for the travel expenses of political analyst Chai Jin Shern, popularly known as James Chai, in an effort to secure his attendance in Malaysia to assist with its ongoing investigation into the ARM Holdings matter.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the anti‑graft agency said Chai has been given a period of two weeks to fly to the country to provide his statement, warning that failure to do so could lead the commission to seek international assistance, potentially involving law enforcement agencies such as Interpol to ensure his cooperation.

The MACC affirmed that inquiries into the ARM case remain active, with officers having recorded statements from a number of witnesses, including personnel from government agencies, and collected documents believed to be pertinent to the investigation.

Chai, who previously served as an aide to a prominent political figure, had earlier cited work responsibilities and travel costs in correspondence with the commission as reasons for not appearing before investigators, prompting the agency’s offer to cover his airfare.

The commission reiterated that individuals asked to assist in official probes have a legal duty to cooperate, and it stressed that if Chai maintains his innocence, the appropriate step is to present himself to authorities to provide his account rather than addressing the matter publicly without formal engagement.

MACC also underscored its commitment to conducting the investigation in a professional, independent and evidence‑based manner, emphasising that no person is above the law as the process continues.-The Capital Post
