KUDAT 9 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – Enforcement officers successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of diesel in Kudat, detaining a local man after discovering about 800 litres of diesel loaded in a vehicle during an inter‑agency operation.

The operation, part of ongoing Ops Tiris, saw officers from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry collaborating with marine and maritime personnel to monitor suspicious activity on Pulau Banggi and surrounding roadways.

During a stop along the Karakit‑Batu Layar main road on Wednesday, officials uncovered four barrels of diesel in a single‑cab truck driven by a local individual, who could not produce valid documentation for the fuel’s transport or possession.

The suspect was immediately detained to assist with further investigations under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, and the seized fuel was impounded as evidence.
