Driver Killed, Five Injured After Car Plunges Into Ravine Near Tapah

Ipoh 24 April 2026 (The Capital Post) – A man was killed while five others sustained injuries after a car lost control and plunged into a ravine along Jalan Tapah–Cameron Highlands near Batu 21.

Authorities said the incident occurred at about 8.40pm on April 23, involving a vehicle carrying six individuals. The 44-year-old driver was found trapped and unconscious inside the car when rescuers arrived at the scene.

Fire and rescue personnel worked to extricate the victim from the wreckage before he was brought up from the ravine on a stretcher. He was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

The other occupants, comprising a 48-year-old woman and four children aged between six and 19, were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

Officials said the vehicle had veered off the road and landed in a shallow river below the three-metre-deep ravine. Initial findings indicated that the group had been travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands to attend a funeral.

The body of the deceased has been handed over to police for further investigation as authorities continue to look into the cause of the accident.-The Capital Post
