KUALA LUMPUR, 5 May 2026 (The Capital Post) — Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has intensified integrated enforcement efforts to address challenges stemming from the global supply crisis, resulting in a total of 452 arrests linked to smuggling and cross-border crimes.
The information was shared via the official Facebook page of Kementerian Dalam Negeri (KDN), highlighting the government’s firm stance in safeguarding national security and protecting the public from illicit activities that threaten the country’s economy.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the arrests reflect the ministry’s continued commitment to decisive enforcement.
“Recorded arrests totaling 452 demonstrate KDN’s firmness and ongoing dedication in ensuring national security while protecting the interests of the people from smuggling threats and transnational crimes,” he said.
The enforcement operations also led to significant seizures by authorities. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recorded confiscations amounting to RM23.22 million, while the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) seized goods worth RM2.17 million.

In terms of arrests by agency, PDRM accounted for the majority with 397 arrests, followed by APMM with 34, and the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) with 21.
KDN said strategic measures are being continuously implemented across land, maritime, and national border areas. These efforts are aimed at curbing smuggling activities, tackling cross-border crimes, safeguarding critical supplies, and ensuring economic stability for the rakyat.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to proactive, integrated, and high-integrity enforcement, working closely with its agencies to ensure Malaysia remains secure, stable, and sovereign.
